We had a few upgrades done at the machine shop to add some performance, serviceability and reliability to the Datsun L28 F54 Engine Block.
Datsun Engine Block Upgrades
Before taking the F54 block to the machine shop we modified the internals of the engine block, including cleaning up the casting flash and smoothed out the inside surfaces.
At the machine shop we had the following work done:
Bored and honed the cylinders to 88.5mm to increase capacity
Relived the bottom of the cylinder bores to ensure clearance with the connecting rods
Removed the oil gallery plugs for cleaning out the block
Taped the oil galleries for threaded plug inserts to make future service easier
Drilled out the oil feed to the cylinder head to increase the oil flow to support both the internally oiled camshaft and cam sprayer bar
Work Needed:
Decking the Top Surface of the Block
Painting the Engine Block
