Changing the oil is essential to the longevity of any motor including race car motors. Changing the oil on the Spec Racer Ford is part of the regular maintenance required. An oil change should be done after 4-5 race weekends or whenever the oil starts to turn black.

4-5 quarts 10W30 oil
New Oil filter - Motorcraft FL400S
Changing the Oil - Gen2
You can change the oil if it is cold but it will drain better if it is warm or hot, don't burn yourself.
With the right size pan you don't even have to jack up the car to drain the oil.
Place a pan under the drain plug located at the bottom of the motor on the rear right hand side of the car.
Undo the drain plug with the open ended wrench or socket and ratchet.
Let the oil drain, it helps to undo the oil fill cap on top of the motor.
With the oil draining remove the oil filter from the remote location in front of rear shocks and let the oil drain.
While the last of the oil drains out, prime the new filter by filling with fresh oil. Run a little fresh oil over the filter seal with you finger.
Once the oil has stopped draining replace the drain plug and tighten with the open ended wrench or socket and ratchet.
Install the new primed oil filter and hand tighten into place.
Fill with 4qts of fresh motor oil using the funnel.
Check the oil level with the dipstick and fill until full replace the oil cap when done.
Remove the oil pan and dispose of the used motor oil appropriately.
When replacing or refilling the Spec Racer Ford coolant system you need to make sure the all the air is bled out of the system before heading out on track.
